My husband , Jason, became a quadriplegic after diving off a pontoon into the river near our home.
After spending thirty days in the Billings Clinic ICU, Jason was then transferred to Bethesda Rehab Hospital in St. Paul, MN.
Jason has been stable for many months now, waiting to go home. Due to the fact that we live in a rural area, we have faced many obstacles to find a way home, most dealing with the fact that Jason is vent dependent.
Finally, after almost nine months of being here and lots of “out of the box” thinking, we are making arrangements for the trip home as we type.
Being away from our sons, Carson, 7 and Gunnar, 4, has been the hardest thing we have been through. Luckily, with the help of family and friends, they have been able to make monthly trips to visit us.
We are so looking forward to getting home to start our new life with our boys. We will never give up hope that there will be a cure for SCI. Until then, we will enjoy all the little things in the world and our two wonderful boys.
