Complete T12, my son, Richard Poon, February 2002
On March 22nd, 2002, my son, Richard, suffered spinal cord injury at T12 as a result of a horrifying ski accident in Japan, leaving him completely paralyzed from his waist down. It was the most devastating moment for him and the whole of the family.
A cure is most needed for him and what we are striving for him. I hereby sincerely and desperately urge the senators and legislators to please help us get there by passing the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Act.
Since my son's injury, as his parents, we have begun and continued fighting for a cure for him without taking a breath. Moreover, it is also very clear to us that another utterly important role of ours is to raise funds to support the most promising SCI research being carried out by the most aggressive SCI scientists around the world, which we have been doing since 2003.
My true happiness will be retrieved ONLY when my son is cured. I will be forever thankful to all those who have helped us building up a cure and I will then be able to rest in peace at the end of my days!!!!!
