T12, January 2004

As a 19 year old, I was working and attending college classes. I sustained a T12 spinal cord injury on the job one day when a piece of heavy machinery fell on top of me.

After my accident, I continued working toward my degree while focusing on my recovery. I have always maintained the belief of "That which does not kill me, shall only make me stronger."

I graduated from the University of Toledo with a degree in Electrical Engineering. I have been training at SCI-Step in Mason, Ohio since the spring of 2006. Although once told impossible, I can now walk with the assistance of AFOs and a walker or arm crutches.
I want to help motivate others by proving that functional recovery is possible and maintaining a healthy lifestyle is one of the most important things we can do for our bodies.
