Kris Gulden Fairfax, Virginia
T4, May 1998
Injured in 1998 when she was hit by a car while riding her bicycle, Kris jumped on the Advocacy bandwagon when she was asked to testify at a Senate hearing in 2002. At that moment she began to understand how much politics and funding influence her dream of walking again. She now works tirelessly for the cure effort at every opportunity. Kris presently sits on a committee appointed by the state of Virginia to study the medical, scientific, and ethical implications of stem cell research. She offers her services wherever energy and expertise is needed to advance a cure for paralysis.
"We are united in our belief that this one, powerful, recurring dream - to get up out of our chairs and walk away - is possible."
