T5-T7 incomplete, April 2003

I was injured in an auto accident in april of 2003. I have a T5-T7 spinal fusion and it is incomplete. I was in a wheelchair for a little over a year. My daughter at the time was 2 and I promised her I would walk with her to get the mail. My doctor then didn't think I had a good chance to recover my mobility. I proved him wrong. I took my first step in september of 2004 and continue to walk with the assistance of a brace and cane. My wheelchair is in the garage collecting dust. I still have pain and some deep muscles don't work right, but I am very fortunate and I am grateful not only to walk but to be here for my family. I think more needs to be researched and done in the USA for SCI. So don't give up hope fight the fight. We can do it.
